  7. I wanted to pass along the following information that I discovered 
  8. regarding increasing the audio level on the Radio Shack HTX-252 
  9. 2M radio.  This is apparently a common problem with this radio and 
  10. I was not able to find any existing mods for fixing it - so I decided 
  11. to try for myself. 
  12.  
  13. Remove the four screws holding the top chassis cover (which has 
  14. the speaker grill) and remove it.  The speaker is conected by a long 
  15. enough pair of wires that removing it should not be necessary.  If 
  16. removal is necessary it is held in place by four screws which are 
  17. easily removed.
  18.  
  19. With the front of the radio facing toward you locate the variable 
  20. resistor labled RV2 which is located almost dead center on the 
  21. main circuit board.  
  22.  
  23. Turning this variable resistor clockwise will increase the deviation 
  24. and raise the audio level of the transmissions.  Be careful not to 
  25. increase the deviation too much.

  27. After making this mod to my radio I have been receiving reports 
  28. that my audio is 100% better, and is at a level on par with everyone 
  29. else.
